Viksit Bharat@2047, an event organized by Arthavrishti, The Economics Society, and the Department of Economics at Mata Sundri College for Women, took place on March 15, 2024. The session aimed to provide attendees with insights into India's developmental trajectory and objectives. The keynote speaker was Prof. Deepti Taneja, a professor of economics and joint dean of the Cultural Council at Delhi College of Arts and Commerce. During the lecture, Prof. Taneja discussed topics such as the reasoning behind state name changes and the importance of education in determining India's future. She presented her vision of India becoming a developed nation by 2047 and highlighted the country's economic achievements, noting that the current GDP is 4.25 trillion dollars. She also provided examples of regional development, such as Goa's high per capita income and Uttar Pradesh's goal of reaching a $1 trillion GDP. The lecture concluded by emphasizing the importance of organized labor markets, population control, and prioritizing happiness and well-being. The event was a forum for forward-thinking conversations and was considered a success.
