Plantation Drive at Nehru Ridge

Students Participate in an Initiative for Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Green Spaces
Mata Sundri College for Women, University of Delhi, actively participated in a plantation drive organised at the Nehru Ridge Area, Delhi, on 18 August 2026. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, ecological responsibility, and active student participation in sustainability efforts.
The programme was graced by the presence of Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, University of Delhi, and Prof. Geeta Singh, Director, Centre for Professional Development in Higher Education (CPDHE). Their presence and encouragement inspired the participating students to recognise the importance of collective efforts towards environmental conservation.
Students of Mata Sundri College for Women participated enthusiastically in the plantation activities and contributed towards increasing green cover and preserving urban green spaces. The initiative provided them with an opportunity to engage directly with environmental concerns while fostering values of teamwork, social responsibility, community participation, and responsible citizenship.
The plantation drive at Nehru Ridge also highlighted the ecological significance of preserving green spaces in Delhi and encouraged students to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their everyday lives. Such initiatives enable students to extend their learning beyond the classroom and translate their awareness into meaningful action.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment among the participating students towards environmental sustainability and community welfare. The active participation of the students, along with the encouragement of the dignitaries, made the plantation drive a meaningful and enriching experience, reinforcing the collective responsibility of building a greener and more sustainable future.
