Celebrating the Legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib

Mata Sundri College for Women hosted a Gurbani Kirtan and Lecture–Demonstration on the Tantisaaz on November 17, 2025. Organised by the Department of Music and USTAT: The Divinity Society, in collaboration with the Punjabi Academy (GNCTD), the event was held to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.

The programme featured Bhai Sahib Shaminder Pal Singh (Top Grade Artist, AIR), who performed soulful Gurbani Kirtan and introduced the audience to the rich tradition of the Tantisaaz. His demonstration highlighted the instrument’s structure, history, and significance in Sikh devotional music, making the session both educational and spiritually uplifting.

The event was graced by distinguished guests from DSGMC and the College Governing Body, whose presence added to the solemnity of the occasion. Held at the Mata Sahib Kaur Auditorium, the programme saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, reflecting the college’s commitment to promoting cultural and musical heritage.
