Asmita

The Women’s Development Cell (WDC), known as “Asmita,” at Mata Sundri College for Women is committed to fostering the personal, professional, and emotional development of young women. The Cell serves as a platform for dialogue, awareness, and empowerment by addressing issues such as patriarchy, domestic violence, mental health, sexual harassment, and gender-based stereotypes.
WDC organizes a wide array of events throughout the academic year to create a safe and engaging space for reflection and learning. These include national seminars, inter-college competitions, expert-led webinars, and interactive sessions that provide students with opportunities to critically engage with social realities and express their perspectives.
The Cell also conducts film screenings, open-mic events, panel discussions, and creative contests to promote awareness and self-expression. One of its recent highlights was a webinar focused on women’s leadership in defence services, encouraging students to envision diverse career paths. The Cell also hosted a national-level extempore competition and a seminar addressing the social and legal dimensions of gender issues. Workshops on legal rights, mental health, self-defence, and self-confidence are regularly held to equip students with practical tools to navigate personal and professional challenges. These initiatives contribute significantly to building resilience, assertiveness, and leadership skills among students.
By nurturing thoughtful dialogue, creativity, and social sensitivity, the Women’s Development Cell plays a vital role in shaping a more inclusive and empowered college environment. It continues to be a driving force in inspiring students to become informed, confident, and socially conscious individuals.
