Gandhi Study Circle

The Gandhi Study Circle (GSC) at Mata Sundri College for Women was established to promote the timeless ideals of Mahatma Gandhi among students, empowering them with a unique perspective to understand and address social, political, and ethical challenges of today. Since its inception, the GSC has grown into an active platform fostering awareness and reflection on Gandhian philosophy, emphasizing principles like non-violence, truth, self-reliance, and social justice.

The society organizes a broad range of activities throughout the academic year, including guest lectures by scholars and social activists, quiz competitions on Gandhian values, open mic sessions for creative expression, documentary screenings, and panel discussions. These events encourage students to critically analyze contemporary issues through Gandhi’s teachings and inspire them to apply these values in daily life.

One flagship program is the weeklong national event on Gandhi Jayanti, themed “Mera Jivan hi Mera Sandesh Hai,” featuring interactive web lectures, debates, quizzes, and cultural performances. This event attracts enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, fostering a deeper understanding of Gandhi’s legacy. In recognition of its initiatives, Mata Sundri College’s Gandhi Study Circle was honored with the Best Gandhi Study Circle Award by the University of Delhi’s Gandhi Bhawan on October 2, 2020.

The society also hosts special events like logo launches and invites distinguished guests to motivate students further. Through sustained efforts, the Gandhi Study Circle empowers young women to become socially conscious and responsible citizens, dedicated to embodying and promoting Gandhian principles in their communities.
