Overview

Established in 1967, the Department of Urdu at Mata Sundri College for Women is among the college’s oldest and most culturally vibrant departments. It is dedicated to preserving the literary richness of Urdu and cultivating an awareness of its historical and cultural significance in India. The department encourages students to connect with their heritage while sharpening their linguistic and expressive skills. Through the study of Urdu, students develop a deep appreciation for values, traditions, and human emotions reflected in its literature. The department offers Core MIL Urdu (A & B) and AECC Urdu (A & B) courses. These provide students with exposure to both classical and contemporary forms of Urdu literature and language, helping them become expressive communicators and culturally sensitive individuals. The curriculum blends literary study with communication-based learning to foster comprehensive language development.
