Event Report
A Nukkad Natak Competition on the theme “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” was organised on 2 September 2026 at Mata Sundri College for Women, University of Delhi, in principal partnership with the Office of the District Magistrate, Old Delhi District; NSS Unit “Parivartan”; Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti; and NSS, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. The programme was inaugurated with a Welcome Address by Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur, Principal, Mata Sundri College for Women, who highlighted the importance of girls’ education, empowerment and youth participation in social change. The event was graced by Shri Dharmender Kumar, District Magistrate, Old Delhi District, as Chief Guest, along with Ms. R. Nirja, SDM Headquarters, Old Delhi District; Shri Harish Mathur, DPO, Old Delhi District, as Guest of Honour; and Shri Vijay Gaur, Chairperson, Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti. The dignitaries addressed the participants and emphasised gender equality, girls’ education, empowerment and community participation. A total of 11 teams participated and presented impactful street plays addressing gender discrimination, girls’ education, women’s safety, equal opportunities and empowerment. The performances effectively used theatre, music, slogans and audience interaction to spread the message of social equality. The event successfully engaged youth in social awareness and reinforced the importance of collective action for the education, dignity, safety and empowerment of girls. It also strengthened collaboration between the District Administration, NSS, educational institutions and civil society organisations
