The Department of Environmental Studies at MSCW is committed to developing sensitivity and awareness about environmental problems among the students. The department is responsible for sensitizing young minds regarding sustainability, ecological balance, and the interconnection between human beings and nature. With a robust interdisciplinary focus, it focuses on both theoretical knowledge and application.
The department provides a mandatory Ability Enhancement Course (AEC) in Environmental Studies to all undergraduate students, as directed by UGC guidelines. The course exposes students to basic environmental principles, sustainable development, pollution regulation, conservation of biodiversity, and climate change. By way of routine lectures, field trips, and interactive courses, the department plans to develop the sense of environmental responsibility and critical thinking among students.
