Cultural Society


Mata Sundri College has a vibrant cultural life. The college has a Cultural Society which promotes a variety of western, folk and classical dances. It is one of the most active societies of the College. It organizes and encourages students to participate in various cultural competitions held indifferent educational institutions across Delhi. It helps the students to discover, develop and promote their talent by providing them with opportunities to perform on the stage.

The Western Dance team “KAYRA” and the Folk Dance team “VIRSA” are known for their scintillating performances. Team members practice hard for long hours, which is visible when they outperform their competitors in various events.

The Cultural Society hosts Thirak- the Classical, Folk and Western dance competitions— during the annual college fest Saarang every year to encourage the diverse talents of the students. Two new teams –for Bhangra and Music —have been formed recently. These students participated in many competitions and won various prizes in 2018.

‘Virsa’ the GiddhaTeam won prizes in various inter-college festivals. At PGDAV College they won the 3rd Prize, at Dyal Singh College they were awarded the 2nd Prize. At Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, Deshbandhu College, GTB College, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce they won the 3rd Prize. Navneet Kaur was judged the best dancer. The Virsa team also gave a scintillating performance at Siri Fort Auditorium on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the College.

‘Kayra’ the Western Dance Team participated in many inter-college competitions. They won the first prize at Zakir Hussain College and at NIFT. They were also awarded the second prize by Ramjas Collge, Satyawati College, Acharya Narendra Dev College, Rukmani Devi College, among others. Diksha Punyani was judged the best dancer.

The Bhangra Team participated in the popular bhangra competition of India, BHANGRA ARENA 2018. The energy and coordination of their performances won them appreciation from the judges and the audience alike. They won the first prize at the folk-dance competition organized by Kiah Events and Man Power. Bhawna Salaria was judged the best performer..

The College Cultural Society has organized a event named THIRAK – an Inter-College Dance Competition- in the month of February 2020 during the Annual College Festival SAARANG


LOK RANG , the Inter-University Folk Dance Competition

LOK RANG , the Inter-University Folk Dance Competition was held on 22nd of February’19. It was hosted by RJ Yuvi. The main idea of this event was to promote India’s diverse culture and to connect youth with their culture. We invited universities from all over India.
