The department was established in 1967. In 2012,department was extended to include Sports Sciences and its nomenclature changed as Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. The aim of the department is to channelize youthful energy by their participation in Sports and Games during their student’s life. Department providesits students with excellent infrastructure, financial support and vigorous training. As a result, the department is embellished with many International, National, State & University level Players.
Apart from that Department organizes various Sports activities for all the students to motivate them to take part in sports. :
The college has facilities for Aerobics, Volleyball, Chess, Karate, Taekwondo, Yoga, Judo, Weight Lifting, Power Lifting, Kho-Kho, Athletics, Football, Archery, Ball Badminton, Kabaddi and indoor games.
Students desirous of participating in any of the sports and games should give their names on the prescribed proforma to the Incharge, Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, at the beginning of the session
Students admitted on the basis of sports are required to attend 66% of the total number of practice sessions. Relaxation with regard to attendance is given only for participation in competitions.
Roll numbers for the final examination are not given to the students who do not have the required attendance in practice sessions.
Attendance on Sports Day is compulsory for all the students, whether they are participating in games or not.
Sports classes begin in the morning from 7 A.M. to 10 A.M.
Outstanding sports students are given frees ships, stipends and other facilities.
