Milestones of the College

2024

  1. A new conference hall, namely, Bebe Nanki Hall, was constructed with echo absorbers.
  2. On behalf of the college, Prof. Harpreet Kaur signed a number of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 8 March 2024 for the Framework of Academic Collaboration Agreement for the duration of 3 years with the following institutes:
    1. Science Uzbekistan, Usbekistan
    2. Alfraganus University, Tashkent, Uzbekistan
    3. Tashkent Institue of Chemical Technology, Tashkent, Uzbekistan

2023

  1. An additional laboratory was provided to the Pschology Department.
  2. KOHA-ILMS, Software purchased, installed and worked successfully. MSQB Portal: Gateway to Question Repository Launch on 21 December.
  3. A connecting corridor between Blocks A & B was built on ground floor.
  4. G20 Youth Conclave on 5 September,2023 on the theme "Inspiring Change: Youth Engagement During India's G20 Leadership" was organised in collaboration with Akashvani Delhi.

2022

  1. Two new Computer Labs (125 and 126) were constructed.
  2. Disabled-friendly toilets and Gents' toilets were constructed on all floors.
  3. 2D Disabled-friendly Signs and tactile floors was added.
  4. A Gardener's room was constructed.

2021

  1. A spacious and Well equipped Computer Lab is constructed with the capacity of 60 computers.

2020

  1. six classrooms were added on the fourth floor.

2019

  1. A new add-on course “Mastering the Stock Market” was started in February 2019 in collaboration with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
  2. The establishment of IGNOU regular study centre was approved on 16th August, 2019. The regular study centre code is 29060.

2017

  1. The latest achievement of the college was to introduce two new Under graduate courses i.e. B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science and B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics in this year.
  2. 2. Golden Jubilee (50 Years) of the College celebrated
  3. A Course on Diploma in Foreign Languages began.

2011

  1. An elevated Auditorium named after Mata Sahib Kaur Ji fitted with modern facilities was constructed with seating capacity of 500 became operational in 2011.
  2. A beautiful canteen for students and staff was made ready with a capacity of 300.
  3. A small modern Gymnasium is also housed.
  4. A beautiful place of worship i.e. college Gurudwara is also built in the centre of Block A
  5. The college further got its fourth floor constructed on block B.
  6. The college has been provided with free wi-fi to students and staff by University of Delhi via a leased line.
  7. The college is equipped with 25 multi media projector installed in classrooms.

2008

The College further enhanced its academic stature by introducing three Foreign language certificate courses approved by University of Delhi in French, German and Spanish.

2007

Department of Elementary Education began its journey in Mata Sundri College on October 18, 2007.

2005

With a view to encourage skill based education, The college with the permission of UGC started 3 Vocational Courses- Computer Application, Tourism & Travel Management and Textile Designing.

2003

The college shifted its Admin/Accounts and Principal's office to newly built block B. With this block number of classrooms increased to 62. During this phase the college got a modern centrally air-conditioned library of size 13,600 sq. ft.

M.A. in Hindi was introduced in 1994.

M.A. in Political Science was introduced in 1993

1992

The Block A of present college Building was constructed and the college shifted its classes to this block in 1992.

1985

B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology and B.Com(Hons.) in 1985.

1980

B.A. (Hons. ) in English was introduced in 1980. The collge got a state of the art newly renovated Mata Gujri Seminar Hall in the basement. Its seating capacity is 130 and fitted with modern sound system.

1979

The academic and sports achievements started pouring in. A noble programme of Bani/Declamation and Kirtan Competitions involving teams from schools and colleges was initiated to inculcate a spritual flame in the minds of students and staff. An inter college cultural festival "Saarang" started during this phase.

1978

M.A. in Sanskrit started in 1978. The year 1978 saw the addition of B.A.(Hons.) in Mathematics and B.Com(Pass).

1976

Post Graduation(M.A.) in Punjabi was introduced in 1976

B.A.(Hons.) in Political Science and Philosophy were added in 1969

1968

B.A.(Hons.) in Punjabi, Hindi, Sanskrit and History were introduced in 1968

1967

The college was founded on 17th July, 1967 in Mata Sundri Gurdwara Complex for B.A.(pass) course with 407 students on rolls. Mrs. S. M. Singh was appointed first Principal of the college on 13.7.1967. Though Honourable Jathedar Santokh Singh was nominated first Chairman of College Governing Body on 12.6.1967

1966

The Academic Council of Delhi University approved opening of the college in its meeting held on 12th April, 1966 and Executive Council approved of it in its meeting held on 12th May, 1966. The University Grants Commission approved of it for grants on the same basis as for other colleges vide Deputy Secretary UGC letter F. 1-22/65 ( CU) dated 27th March, 1966.
