The Department of Urdu seeks to spread awareness about the literary and cultural relevance of the language in the Country. It was established in 1967 and is one of the oldest in the college. Urdu language learning brings the young mind closer to their rich cultural heritage by inculcating in students the right human values.
In order to promote communicative and literary skills in students, the department organizes many competitions like Ghazal, Poetry and Baidbaazi competitions. Eminent personalities and renowned academicians from the field of Urdu are invited to interact with the students regularly.
The students are required to attend not less than 68% of the lectures during each semester in order to enable them to appear for university examinations.
A continuous process of internal assessment takes place during each semester. The assessing procedures usually include written assignments, projects, house exam and presentations. Final examinations are held in the month of November and May.
It is mandatory for a student to secure minimum 40% marks in each theory paper during final examinations, 40% in the internal assessment for each semester, to pass the examination.
