The Hindi department was established in 1967.This is one of the oldest department of Mata Sundri College. It is committed to develop an academic environment oriented towards rational thinking , moral values and composite culture. The study of Hindi language gives an opportunity to know deeply about public relations, thought power and culture of Indian society. It connects us with the roots and expand the field of knowledge .It also inspires us to understand human nature, develop the ability to create, reason and evaluate. The department has geared itself to the new challenges that have emerged in contemporary time.Today the discipline is taught with an inter disciplinary focus and it is offered to students as a part of the B.A (Hons.) B.A (Prog.) B.Com (Prog.) as well as B El. Ed. curriculum. The teachers are highly qualified and experienced who are dedicated to education. They are always keen to participate in Workshops, National International Seminars,Talks, Conferences etc. to keep themselves updated.
“Hindi Sahitya Parishad” organises numerous academic and Co-curricular activities including inter college and inter departmental activities comprising of debate, poetry, declamation, quiz, special lectures, seminars, workshops and talks by eminent speakers on different topics. The aim of organizing these events is to provide students a platform to express their views, to show their hidden talent and to groom their overall personality. The departmental E-magazine 'Goonj' provides a platform where students and faculty showcase their creative thinking and talent in various genres of Hindi literature. Since the magazine was started in 2019, it has aimed to Develop students’ knowledge, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills in the Hindi language. Provide a platform for the students to explore their literary side through publication of their literary writings such as stories, short stories and poems. Foster and nurture a love for the Hindi language to acquire knowledge, build a strong moral character and inspire action, enhanced by the expert opinions of the faculty to ensure the students are well mentored and guided. The editorial team consists primarily of students and is guided by faculty members. It provides a platform to deepen the knowledge of our subject and allows a creative output from the students who are involved in writing, editing and designing the e- magazine.
In commerce the students are required to attend not less than 67% of the lectures, theory and practicum courses, separately during each semester in order to enable them to appear for university examinations.
A continuous process of internal assessment takes place during each semester that includes theory as well as practicum courses. The assessing procedures usually include written assignments, projects, house exam and presentations. Final examinations are held in the month of November and May.
It is mandatory for a student to secure minimum 40% marks in each theory paper during final examinations, 40% in the internal assessment, 40% in all Practicum courses taken together and 40% in the aggregate for each semester, to pass the examination.
