As an effort to connect with the neighbouring schools, the Department has carried forward its collaboration with the neighbouring schools, Sri Guru Harkrishan Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School and Kamlesh Balika Vidyalaya. Department had named this school collaboration project as SAHYOG- Stepping Together Ahead.
Contributing to this alliance, school principal and teachers of both the schools were invited to attend the lectures and workshops organised in the Department from time-to-time. The faculty from concerned schools attended sessions by Prof Harjeet Kaur Bhatia and Jodogyan organization. Suggestive themes for workshops in schools were also sought from school teachers .Based on their suggestions, a play on the theme of ‘cleanliness’ was presented in both the schools by B.El.Ed. students.
Department of Elementary Education, Mata Sundri College for Women, organised an Educational Visit for the B.El.Ed III year students on the 17th Feb, 2018 to Yamuna Biodiversity Park which is situated in the Jagatpur Village, Wazirabad, Delhi. The visit acquainted the students with the vast conservatory of reptiles such as monitor lizards, snakes, chameleons and mammals like jackals, blue bulls, porcupines, leopards etc. Mr. Manoj, the resource person made our students aware of the steps being taken to conserve certain medicinal plants, butterflies, birds and animals which are on the verge of extinction. The trip helped our students realize the importance of environmental conservation, economic importance of different species of plants having medicinal as well as nutritional values andof certain birds including migratory birds.
Third year students of the Department visited Digantar, Jaipur from October 09-14, 2017.Students get to experience the practice of innovative pedagogical practices, and get a firsthand account of practical implementation of the theoretical knowledge.
The Department organised heritage walk for its I year students on 14th March, 2018. The sites for the visit included Salimgarh fort and FerozshahKotla fort.The focus of the visit was not only building a factual knowledge base among the participants about the sites but to also to view these sites in the historical, cultural, socio- economic and political contexts of the time in which these were built. The resource persons well connected the history behind the building of each of the sites to the then prevailing politics of power, the larger societal fabric of the times.
Department of Elementary Education organized an educational visit for Pedagogy of Social Science students on April 09, 2018. The students were taken to the Chambers of Parliament, Parliament Museum and Parliament Library. The visit was to orient them on the importance of field visit as an important teaching-learning strategy in Social Science. An introductory orientation was conducted by ShriPulin B. Bhutia, Director, LokSabha Secretariat at Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training.Then a guided tour was conducted which helped in building our understanding of the two Houses and the Central Hall, and its importance. The visit also helped in knowing the history and architecture of the Parliament, and more so the functioning of the democratically elected Members of Parliament.
Acknowledging the crucial role of parents as stakeholders, B.El.Ed. department every year organizes a Parent-Teacher interaction to discuss students’ progress and performance with them. This year too, the parent interaction was scheduled for B.El.EdI , II and III year students on 3rd and 12th February 2018.
Department alumnae meet was organized on 21 Nov, 2017 at 3:00 pm in Mata Gujri Hall. Around 80 alumnae attended the event. They shared about their memories of college life and their experiences in their jobs. Department also took their feedback in the form of suggestions for the improvement of college and department. Alumnae prepared different events and presented for their friends. A souvenir of ‘Celebrating 10 years of B.El.Ed’ was released and distributed among alumnae.
