'How to Read a Film Like a Book'

The Department of English organized a workshop-cum-career counseling session titled 'How to Read a Film Like a Book' on 24th August 2021 at 4:30 pm via Zoom. The resource person for the same was Ms. Rosheena Zehra, co-founder of Shorted Films (shorted.in). Sixty participants, including faculty and students from various colleges of Delhi University, took part in the workshop.

ONE WEEK FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

"Emergent Aesthetics of Translation: Theory and Praxis"

A one-week Faculty Development Programme on “Emergent Aesthetics of Translation: Theory and Praxis” was organized from 19-25 February, 2021. 11 renowned academicians delivered lectures covering various areas of translation studies. The FDP saw great success with a participation of more than 125 pedagogues from various universities.

"Fine Print: Navigating in the World of Publishing and Print Journalism"

For guiding the third year students so that they are prepared to face career challenges, a career counselling session was organised in September 2020. The talk titled “Fine Print: Navigating in the World of Publishing and Print Journalism” was given by journalist-writer, Ms. Sanhati Banerjee.

WEBINAR

"Indian Classical Literature: Pedagogic and Research Dimensions"

A webinar titled “Indian Classical Literature: Pedagogic and Research Dimensions” was organised by the Department of English which was presided over by Dr. Namrata Chaturvedi, Associate Professor, School of Language, Literature and Culture, SRM University, Sikkim on 17th July, 2020. The webinar discussed the possibilities of research as well as explored newer ways of teaching-learning process in the context of classical scholarship.

GUEST LECTURE

"Life Writings by Dr Manish Sharma"

On 6th March 2020, the Department organized a lecture on Life-Writings for third year students in the Mata Gujri Hall. The guest speaker was Dr. Manish Sharma from Ambedkar University.

CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP

A three hour Creative Writing Workshop was organized on 14th September 2019 for the students of all three years of BA (Hons) English. Renowned poet Dr. Akhil Katyal, who is faculty at Ambedkar University, Delhi, was invited to facilitate the workshop. The focus of the workshop was on writing City Poetry.

REMEDIAL ENGLISH CLASSES

The Department of English conducted Remedial English classes for students of BA programme in August-September 2019. The course was designed to help the students in improving their basic English skills. Ms. Praveshika Mishra and Ms. Shweta Duseja were the course coordinators. A total of seventy five students registered for the course.
