On 30th April,2024 Astitva- Department of Philosophy hosted a thought-provoking symposium titled “Global Gender Gap Report with special reference to India’s position and Viksit Bharat”. The event aimed to shed light on the findings of the latest Global Gap Report and initiate discussions on gender equality, empowerment and the challenges ahead with a special mention of Viksit Bharat program.

The Elections were held in offline mode, the first ever to be done right after covid re-opening. They were organised on September 20, 2022. Keeping the spirit of democracy alive, the candidates were given time for campaigning, while the final decision was in the hands of the students by consensus of voting. Students participated in a huge number. The President and Vice president were to be chosen from 3rd year and the Senior Joint Secretary and Technical Head from 2nd year.

Astitva- The Department of Philosophy Mata Sundri Women's College, Delhi University organised learning Philosophy through non conventional methods on September 2,2022 in Mata Gujri Hall. The event focussed on philosophical attributes such as lively and vivid sense experience, scepticism,dire straits of dreams and reality in cognition with virtual reality and artificial intelligence. The programme started at 12:30 pm with the welcome address by Ms Ananaya Chauhan - the department representative . Further we watched the movie- Matrix till 3:00 pm and jotted down the queries and learnings that we procured. The dignitaries on the dias were Dr. Harpreet Kaur (Principal),Prof. Garima Mani ( HOD- Philosophy department), and our guest speaker Prof. Nilanjan Bhowmik (University of Delhi).

The Department organised an OPEN MIC EVENT, for the students of all the years to imbibe the spirit of congeniality, respect and adherence towards one another. This event was wholly organised by the STUDENT COUNCIL.

On the occasion of World Philosophy Day, Astitva: The department of Philosophy of Mata Sundri College, University of Delhi in collaboration with the BA. Program committee organised an interactive session with a vision to learn more about philosophy and its practical implications in contemporary India. The topic of the talk was “Philosophy and Practice: Contemporary Indian Philosophy”.

The Department organised a talk, sponsored by Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) on “The Enigma of Creation: Prakriti or Maya”, on the occasion of Indian Philosophers’ Day on 26th July 2021. Conducted over Zoom, the event commenced with a warm welcome by the host and Convener, Dr. Jolly Singh, followed by an introduction of the theme and speakers by Dr. Lakshmi Vatsa.

The Department of Philosophy and IQAC, MSCW, introduced an interdisciplinary short-term course of 30 hours titled ‘Building a Positive Self-Image for Success’ in collaboration with Inner Happiness Index. The objective of the course was to teach students how to create and restore a positive self- image for a happy and a successful life.

A three web lecture series on Philosophy Human and Technology was organized by the department. It was sponsored by Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), Department of higher education, HRD.The first lecture was organised on 5th February, 2021 The second lecture was organised on 20th February, 2021. The third lecture was organised on 26th February, 2021.

Astitva, Department of Philosophy and Parivartan, National Service Scheme (NSS) of Mata Sundri College came together for one of a kind health drive. Youth Health has become a major concern especially during this lockdown. To address these issues interactive sessions and workshops were conducted over the course of 3 days. (13th jan,2021 to 15th jan,2021)

The department organised an Inter college online competition and a talk by Ms. Suryanshi Pandey, Broadcast Journalist at BBC World, on the occasion of World Philosophy Day. The topic of the talk was „Beauty without filter- An introspection‟. The event was conducted on the 19th of November,2020.
