The Department of Music was established in the
year 1977 in the College. It plays a key role in
nurturing a spirit of cohesiveness, and adds zest
and verve in students' lives. The Department of
Music, serves as a backbone of the many cultural
events organized both within and outside the
college. Students enthusiastically participate in
such College activities like 'Sur Sarita' that focuses
exclusively on Indian classical (Vocal - Instrumental), competition organized as a part of
our Annual cultural Festival 'Saarang' each year.
They take part in 'Gurbani Kirtan' competitions
organized across different colleges and institutions.
The students also interact with other experts and
professionals to learn and enhance their Classical
music skills.

Attendance Rules
The students are required to attend not less than 68% of the lectures during each semester in order to enable them to appear for university examinations.
Assessment Scheme
A continuous process of internal assessment takes place during each semester. The assessing procedures usually include written assignments, projects, house exam and presentations. Final examinations are held in the month of November and May.
It is mandatory for a student to secure minimum 40% marks in each theory paper during final examinations, 40% in the internal assessment for each semester, to pass the examination.
