Debating Society : VERBATTLE


Oratory skills, Logical reasoning and factual Knowledge are the fundamental leadership qualities. The Debating Society of the College provides a forum through which students can hone their oratory and analytical skills while learning to work as a team. It actively organizes many Debate Competitions at intra-college, inter-college as well as inter-university levels, every year. Our students take part in these competitions and win many accolades and prizes.

The Debating Society regularly organized many activities such as intra-college debate, essay writing competition and MUN competition on 28th and 29th September 2018. Six Committees were simulated for the occasion and over 140 students from institutions all over Delhi as well as outstation colleges as Executive Board and Delegates. From 12-14th October the students participated in Pacem IMUN in Jodhpur. Kaavya Chhabra, a 1st year student of Maths (Hons), and Neeraja Nair, a 1st year student of Political Science (Hons) were awarded 'Special Mention' and 'Verbal Recognition' respectively.

On 22 January Shraddha Sharma from Political Science (Hons) participated in Ekagra, an Essay Writing competition organized by ABVP Central Zone, on the topic “The Philosophy of Swami Vivekananda” and won the 1st prize.

Students also participated in the IMUN at NUJS Kolkata, SYMMUN (Symbiosis Model United Nations), Declamation Competition held at the University of Jammu, Debate Competition at Lady Irwin College, among others. Vidya Bharti (B. El. Ed., II year) participated in a Creative Writing Competition organized by Vivekanand College on the topic, “If I could go back in time…” and won the III prize. She also won the 1st position in the Creative Writing competitions at Jesus and Mary College and KeshavMahavidyalya, and the 2nd Prize at Motilal Nehru College.
