Dramatics Society: PARINDEY

The college has a very active Dramatics society ‘PARINDEY’. The Dramatic society of the college organizes cultural shows and street plays on socially relevant themes. This gives the students a platform to showcase their talents. Students are chosen through auditions and then trained for the talent. Society also organises inter-college Nukkad Natak competition every year in annual fest of the college- Saarang. Our students perform in different theatre events and competitions organised by various colleges, NGOs and Universities.

Our college team performed its stage play on mental health and its impact “Braham – A Chronicle of shadows”. Through the medium of shadow puppetry attempt was made to initiate a more intensive dialogue on this theme. Step Trust organized a puppetry competition on 13th September, 2017 as a part of their festival, Jashn-E-Aman'18 where the students got an opportunity to learn this art under the guidance of the renowned master puppeteer and theatre artist Anupa Roy. Their talent and hard work was appreciated and the team was declared winner for the second time in a row.

On the Occasion of Union day held on 9th October, 2017, a stage play was performed which highlighted the struggle of the Indian Independence Legend Shaheed Bhagat Singh, in Mata Sahib Kaur Auditorium at the College.

Parindey also won the first prize in the theatre competition of India's First Mental Health Festival held on October, 2017 organized by Mental Health Foundation (MHF, India) in association with the Department of Psychiatry. Parindey members were invited by Department of Neurosurgery, AIIMS for a special performance of their shadow puppetry at the panel discussion and public lecture of ANTC 2017: 4th AIIMS Annual Neurotrauma Conference on 27th October, 2017.
