Eco Club

Eco Club

Eco club has been set up by the college to generate awareness about environment and sustainable ways of living. Its functions include educating the students, employees and faculty about environmental concerns. Also, it strives to find opportunities for eco-friendly waste management in the college premises. The club plans to organise activities like demonstrations, presentations, skits etc. to spread awareness among masses.

A proposal for “eco-friendly waste management” mechanism in college premises has been put up by the committee members and the deliberations for the feasibility and execution are in process.

ECO FRIENDLY CAMPUS

  • A well planted campus is maintained by the institution. College won prizes in 8 out of 12 categories at the 60th Delhi University Flower show, held on 23rd February 2018.
  • Department of Environmental Science organised an inter-college competition entitled ‘Eco-Evolution’ conceptual model competition for countering environmental issue’ on 7th February ’18.
  • Field Excursions were organised to Aravalli Biodiversity Park, Yamuna Biodiversity Park and Delhi Ridge. Students interacted with the experts.
  • Students participated in the ‘Nature Walk’ organised by National Museum of Natural History, Subordinate office of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India on 21st March ’18.
  • Students participated in the ‘Heritage Awareness Walk’ organised by National Museum of Natural History, Subordinate office of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India on 18th April ’18.
  • A questionnaire based survey was conducted by the Department of Environmental Science in order to investigate the students’ environmental awareness and participation for the management of the environmental problems related to the college campus and their residential area.
  • Department of philosophy championed the course of the protection of the natural environment through tree plantation & related activities.
  • In order to develop a sense of social & civic responsibility, a weeklong “Swachata Pakhwara” was organized. Similarly, another week long program ‘Swachh Sankalp se Swach Sidhi’ was observed on the same theme. During that period many activities like, Oath Talking Ceremony, Slum Visit, Cleanliness drive (inside & outside the Campus) were organized.
  • On 8th September an Essay Writing Competition on the topic ‘What I Will Do For Cleanliness’ was organized.
  • 70 NCC cadets participated in the fortnight long sanitation campaign of PM Narendra Modi ‘Swachhta hi Seva’. A poster making competition was organised as a part of this campaign.
  • Students of Department of Elementary Education performed a play on the occasion of ‘One Billion Rising’ in C.P.
  • Department of Political Science organised its alumnae meet on the theme of ‘GO GREEN’. A documentary called ‘Our Environment’ was also screened on the occasion.

HYGINE AND CLEANLINESS

  • Hygiene committee worked to spread awareness amongst the students regarding the importance of hygiene. Moreover, efforts are being taken to ensure the hygiene and cleanliness, in terms of facilities that can be made available.2. It monitors the cleanliness of the washrooms.
