MENTAL HEALTH WEEK

Psychology Books and Journal (PB&J) Club, under the Department of Psychology in collaboration with Aarogyam, (a cell for well-being and mental health) an IQAC initiative The Department of Psychology of Mata Sundri College for Women organized various activities from the 4th of October, 2023 to the 10th of October 2023 as part of the Mental Health Week.

KEEPING THE INNER CHILD ALIVE

The Department of Psychology of Mata Sundri College for Women organized a session on the topic “Keeping the inner child alive” on the occasion of Children’s Day with Dr. Sabeen H. Rizvi as a guest speaker on 14th November 2022. The event took place in the psychology department (room no.324) from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in the presence of Dr. Harinder Sandhu, Dr. Pooja Wadawan, Dr. Poonam Vats, Dr. Dipika S. Dhanda, Dr. Garima Kumar, Dr. Amarjyoti Josen and Ms. Jyoti Gupta. The students of all three years were present for the session.

WEBINAR : "Anxiety To Success: A New Paradigm"

Psychology Association,Department of Psychology and Student Council of Mata Sundri College for Women in collaboration with WELLM organized a webinar on the topic- “Anxiety To Success: A New Paradigm '' on 12th september, 2022 . The event took place on zoom from 3:30pm to 4:30 pm. Mr. Rakesh Sarin, Founder and chairperson,WellM and Dr. NK Chadha, Chairman, WellM Academy held the session focused towards helping individuals channelise their emotions to attain a happier mind and healthier body.

ASYLUM : The Battle For Mental Healthcare in India.

Department of Psychology with IQAC of Mata Sundri College for Women organised the last event of the mental health awareness month on 11th november 2021. The event took place on zoom from 4:30pm to 5:30 pm. The event was a conversation with Ms. Daman Singh, the author of the book- ASYLUM : the battle for mental healthcare in India.

PB&J CLUB

The man who mistook his wife for a hat. The first ever session for the PB&J club was held on 11th October 2021, at 5:30 pm. Around 9-10 people, including teachers, were present in the session. The speakers for the day i.e. Ms. Gursheel Kaur and Ms. Parneet Kaur briefed the audience about the aims of the club and the general rules. The discussions will be held fortnightly.

SHORT TERM COURSE

"Creating a Winning Mindset"

It was an interdisciplinary program having students from psychology and Philosophy department along with few students from other colleges as well. In all 27 students were part of this 30 hrs short term course . This course was designed such that students would have guidance to take initial steps towards living a more fulfilling life in career and personal life.

THE PRACTICE OF DOING PSYCHOLOGY

Dr. Cindy Dominique, is a mental health professional having her Clinical practice life Change Psychological Services, a psychiatric assessment and intervention clinic in Columbia, Maryland, USA. She has prior teaching experience at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology The session was attended by not only by our college students and faculty members but also others from colleges across Delhi and those who connected on YouTube, across diverse locations.

PSYCHOLOGY AS LIFE SKILLS : AN INTERACTIVE COUNSELLING SKILLS SESSION

An interactive life skills session was held online on Zoom platform, with renowned Clinical Psychologist Prof Aruna Broota. The session was attended by now only the students and faculty members of Mata Sundri College but also academicians and students across various colleges of University of Delhi. 500 students and faculty across Delhi participated. It was also Live on YouTube and was joined by a large number of people . Prof. Broota's extremely engaging session focused on imparting life skills to participants that would help them in navigating their life in an effective and productive manner.
