SEMINAR ON CAREER PATHS IN PSYCHOLOGY

A seminar for Career Paths in Psychology was held on 23rd November, 2023, organized by Prayas – the Placement Cell of MSCW, in collaboration with the psychology department. Mr. Shivam Kumar Dixit, the CEO of Counsel India addressed the gathering.Various concerns about joblessness, mental health advocacy, steps to make an enticing resume, and the importance as well as the process of profile building were discussed.

FRESHERS’2023

The Department of Psychology, Mata Sundri College for Women organised Freshers’ 2023 for the first years students of B.A. Hons. Psychology and B.A. Prog. Psychology on Tuesday, 21st November 2023. The theme of the Freshers’ was “Fantasy Realm” in which students dressed up as fictional characters, bollywood characters and many more. Students from 2nd and 3rd year enthusiastically took part in organising the whole event

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY PROGRAM

The Department of Psychology, in collaboration with Aarogyam (an IQAC initiative), of Mata Sundri College for Women, organized a program to celebrate World Mental Health Day. It was held in the college auditorium, 12:30 pm onwards, on the 10th of October, 2023. The program began with a brief introduction of what Mental Health is and some statistics about the mental health situation in India.

MENTAL HEALTH WEEK

Psychology Books and Journal Club (PB&J club) under the Department of Psychology celebrated the mental health awareness week conducting various activities throughout the week starting from 4th October when Breathing Exercises were performed by the students of the department, volunteers showed the students the manner in which the exercises were to be performed; the 'Anonymous Messages' activity was conducted on the same day as well.

FILM EXHIBITION AND INTERACTIVE ANALYSIS

The Psychology Department at Mata Sundri College organized an engaging session on "Film Analysis." The event kicked off at 10:30 AM, featuring Mr. Saurav Sarkar, a renowned film director and writer, as the guest speaker. Mr. Sarkar began by introducing himself and sharing insights into the world of documentaries.

SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK

On 16th September 2023, PB&J conducted a session based on the theme ‘Suicide Prevention Week’ in special regard to Kota suicide cases. A total of 41 students from the department of psychology attended the session out of which most were 1st and 2nd year students.

FIELD VISIT TO SOCIETY FOR PROMOTION OF YOUTH AND MASSES (SPYM)

The third-year students from the Department of Psychology at Mata Sundari College went on a significant field trip. A total of 47 students visited the SPYM, a center for children's drug de-addiction. The visit began with Ms. Ria, the counsellor briefing the students about the treatment provided to the children there.

SEMINAR FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION

A seminar for Suicide Prevention was held on the 13th of September, 2023, organized by Parivartan, the NSS unit of MSCW, in collaboration with the Psychology Department. Dr. Supreet Bhasin addressed the gathering. Dr. Pranita Gaur, the TIC of the Psychology Department also voiced out her opinion on the subject. A song depicting the theme was played, the statistics about people whocommitted suicide were displayed, and the conventional definition of suicide was discussed.


5th Sept 2023

G20

42 students from the department of psychology were a part of the G20 event that took place in the auditorium of MSCW, on the 5th of September. The event was a cultural representation of G20 and was full of amazing performances by very talented artists. At the end of the event, all the students were given refreshments.

TEACHER'S DAY CELEBRATION

The Department of Psychology of Mata Sundri College for Women organised a teacher’s day event to We celebrate Teachers' Day to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our teachers. the entire department of psychology took part in the celebration to honour and thank our amazing teachers for their guidance and support in shaping our lives.

SESSION ON "ACADEMIC STRESS"

The PB&J club conducted it’s session on 28 April 2023. This session was in an online format and the topic “Academic stress” was discussed. It was initially scheduled for March but due to certain circumstance was postponed. 13 students of the department attended the session. Several point of views and opinions wer exchanged and active participation was observed.

SESSION ON “BUSTING MYTHS RELATED TO PSYCHOLOGY”

The PB&J club conducted its session on 28th January 2023. This session was in an online format and the topic “Busting Myths Related To Psychology” was discussed. The students were asked to fill a google form prior to the session about myths that they wanted to talk about in order to shed some light on the misconceptions around them. Interesting inputs were produced throughout the discussion.
