Department of Elementary Education continued their collaboration with the Regional English Language Office (RELO), American Embassy for their online English language teaching courses designed to develop teaching skills in English language and build effective strategies to use the language for teaching of other content areas. Both the courses namely TEACHING ENGLISH FOR 21st CENTURY SKILLS and CONTENT LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING (CLIL) started on June 14, 2021. This time the opportunity has been given to the current II year students. 44 students from the department have enrolled for the courses (21 for SKILLS and 23 for CLIL respectively). Our two faculty members are performing the role of observers for this course.

Department of Elementary Education collaborated with the Regional English Language Office (RELO), American Embassy for their online English language teaching courses designed to develop teaching skills in English language and build effective strategies to use the language for teaching of other content areas. These are aptly named TEACHING ENGLISH FOR 21st CENTURY SKILLS and CONTENT LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING (CLIL) respectively. Courses were rolled out in January 2021 and 57 of our current third and fourth year students participated in the program (22 in SKILLS and 23 in CLIL). The courses were completely free for students and the cost of running the program was borne by the embassy. These courses were held on CANVAS platform including a blend of synchronous and asynchronous aspects for a duration of 10 weeks i.e. from February 2021 to April 2021.

The six days online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from 18-23 October, 2020 organised by Department of Elementary Education and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Mata Sundri College for Women, University of Delhi and Teaching Learning Centre for Social Science, Dr. Harsingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (DHGVV, Sagar), Madhya Pradesh (under the aegis of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching, Ministry of Education), marked another attempt to build an academic discourse around the New Education Policy, 2020.

Department of Elementary Education hosted a one day seminar and two days of workshop collaborated with Haute école pédagogique (HEP), Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland. Students and faculty from India and Switzerland interacted closely during the three days to learn from the practices and methods adopted in the classrooms. The International Seminar held on 3rd February focussed on walks as a pedagogic method and explored conservation practices in order to nurture and sustain heritage.

The Early Literacy Programme (ELP) team of Department of Elementary Education, NCERT visited the classrooms of our B.El.Ed interns at Navyug School, Sarojini Nagar on 23rd and 24th January 2017. They recorded different classes of our interns based on picture reading, narrative pantomime, print rich environment, writing activities in the classroom and literacy practices in early grades. The recorded videos of interns would be used as a learning resource for early grade teachers across the country.
