2022-23
This year the Heritage Walk was organized for B. El. Ed. first year students to Qila Lal Kot and Sanjay Van. The resource persons were Mr. Ramit, Mr. Zubair and Ms. Gouri. A total of 44 students participated and 7 teachers attended the visit on February 24th 2023.
2020-21
The Department of Elementary Education organized a lecture series under the Academic Enrichment component of the course on the theme Delhi: The Heritage City. The first lecture was delivered on 29th October, 2020 on the topic Heritage: Mapping the Context by Ms. Jaimala Iyer, Co-Founder of organization Delhi by Foot and ex-theater resource person for the Department. The second lecture titled Heritage as an interdisciplinary subject to enhance teaching was delivered on 20th November, 2020 by Ms. Smita Vats, Founder and Director ITIHAAS. The third lecture titled Studying Heritage through Walks was delivered by Mr. Vikramjit Singh Rooprai (Heritage Activist and Author) on 18th December, 2020. The participants found the lectures to be interesting and at the same time providing ideas of using the heritage walks as an effective pedagogical tool.
2018-19
The Department organised the heritage walk for its I year students on 26th February’19. The sites for the visit in-cluded Safdurjung Tomb, Gandhi Memorial and Sacred Heart Cathedral. The students were accompanied by the staff members along with the resource persons -Ms. Jaimala Iyer, Mr. Ayushman, Mr. Zubair and Mr. Vaghish. K. Jha.
2017-18
The Department organised the heritage walk for its I year students on 14th March 2018. The sites for the visit included Salimgarh fort and Ferozshah Kotla fort. The students were accompanied by the faculty members and a non teaching staff member. The walk was conducted by Ms. Jaimala Iyer, Mr. Lokesh Jain and Mr. Ayushman.
2016-17
Department of Elementary Education organized a Heritage walk to ASI Museum of Masterpieces, Siri Fort, Muhammad Wali Mosque and Sultangarhi on the 18th of February, 2017 for the B.El.ED I year students and the faculty. Mr. Vagish Jha, Ms. Jaya Iyer and Mr. Lokesh Jain were invited as resource persons. It was an engaging and enriching experience which reminded us all about our rich historical and cultural past.
