BOOK LAUNCH AND PANEL DISCUSSION

"Jallianwala Bagh, 1919, The Real Story"

The Department of Political Science organized the launch of the book Jallianwala Bagh, 1919, The Real story, by Ms. Kishwar Desai, in association with the Westland, Amazon. The event included an enlightening session where the eminent speaker spoke at lengths about her latest creation, sharing details of experiences in her journey of writing the book.

TALK

"An Agenda for Good Governance: Policy Initiatives in India", by Prof. Rumki Basu and Dr. Abhay Prasad Singh

The Department of Political Science organized a talk with two eminent political scientists, Prof. Rumki Basu and Dr. Abhay Prasad Singh on the issue of good governance. Both the speakers gave persuasive presentations on the theme, drawing the audience’s attention to important aspects of the same.

KARVAAN : A JOURNEY ACROSS INDIA

As a novel way to welcome the fresh batch of students this semester, the Department of Political Science, under the auspices of Polimates and Anugoonj, the cultural society- organized ‘Karvaan: A Journey Across India’ on August 31.

THE ANNUAL ACADEMIC MEET- 10TH APRIL,2018

The Annual Academic meet was organized on 10th of April,2018. True to its theme, there were a series of competitions that were organized. First and foremost, Picture Interpretation Competition based on the theme of “Sustainable Environment and Climate Change”, keeping in mind development induced destruction of nature, was held. In addition, there was Damsharads Competition with a distinctly Political Science flavor, meant to test the in-depth knowledge of the students in the discipline of Political Science. Along with this, a Dance Drama with a strong societal message was presented by the students. The highlight of the program was the ‘Young Achievers Award Ceremony’ to honor the students who excelled in academics, extracurricular activities as well asthose who made significant contribution towards the E-journal.

THE ALUMNI MEET- 18TH JANUARY,2018

The Department of Political Science organized the Alumni Meet on January 18th. The Meet saw a very successful coming together of more than a hundred participants- students and teachers from the past years- who were more than willing to come back to their alma mater and share their valuable experiences. The Meet opened with a note of welcome by the Teacher-in-charge, Dr. Madhuri who spelt out the theme of the meet ‘Go Green’, followed by the screening of a documentary called ‘Our Environment’. This was followed by an enthralling performance by the students. The former teachers of the Department too were present at the Meet and were honored with a sapling each, which they planted, symbolizing their ongoing and nurturing bond with the institution. The alumni were also presented with eco-friendly paper folders as a token of remembrance. The highlight of the meet was the nomination of office bearers of the Alumni Association,from amongst the alumni present, comprising of President, Vice-President and a Secretary.

DEBATE COMPETITION-21ST SEPTEMBER,2017

A Debate Competition was organized on 21st September, 2017 by the Department of Political Science. The topic of the debate was “Pro-active Judicial Activism is an Aberration of Indian Democracy”. Being a strongly contested theme, there was no dearth of interjectors. The debate saw active participation from all quarters, limited not just to the discipline itself, but other disciplines as well.

THE POLITICAL SCIENCE CONFLUENCE-4th SEPTEMBER,2017

The Department of Political Science organized a Confluence on 4thSeptember, 2017.The event included a number of programs and activities ranging from the screening of documentary “Much Ado About Knotting”, Cultural Programs and an Audio-Visual Quiz which tested the knowledge of the students. Another important feature of the event was the ‘Talent Hunt’ competition gave the first-year students an opportunity to present their talent in front of the entire department.

DEPARTMENT ELECTIONS: A DATE WITH DEMOCRACY. 18th AUGUST,2017

The Department of Political Science organized the elections of the office bearers of the Department Council on 18th August, 2017, which was a learning process for the students, majority of them being first-time voters. With candidates making their formal presentations, usage of ballot boxes and students casting their votes – this formal democratic exercise was the first of its kind.

Talk on understanding forest rights

On 10th March, 2017,A Talk on understanding forest rights to land was organized in the Mata Gujri Hall at 11.30 of Mata Sundri College, University of Delhi. Dr. Rachna Kumari Prasad was the speaker who spoke on the grassroots experiences from the field on this topic. The program saw enthusiastic participation from the students.
